The Spirit SingsLaura VinsonNative female Dancer

The Spirit Sings The Spirit Sings is a colorful musical spectacle based on Western Canadian history. A story of Canadian North American Indians told with integrity. It highlights the Canadian Metis - a unique population with it's own language and culture from the influences of Aboriginal, Scots, Irish and French Ancestry.

These three bloodlines had an enormous influence on the musical culture of the Metis. The proud Indians with their colorful costumes and the inimitable rhythms and dances. The Celts with tight rhythms and howling sound of the bagpipes and finally the French with their uplifting and frivolous violin playing of Jigs and Reels. The Metis culture.

Colorful Indian dancers and spiritual powwow drums, the Metis violin, Celtic bagpipes and tight rhythms, historical footage and the many narrative songs of Laura Vinson make this show a real spectacle.

Maria Dunn Maria Dunn trio.
A storyteller through song, this singer-songwriter combines North American folk and roots music with the influences of her Celtic heritage.

"A Celtic Night" with The McDades & Maria Dunn.
Two top groups from Canada with a Celtic background come together in 'A Celtic Night. While the Irish and Scottish Celtic music is still based on traditions, historical songs and dance, both groups, the family band The McDades and Maria Dunn are gifted songwriters. The Irish and Scottish blood flowing through their veins and the tradition continues with Folk and the accompanying sense of European emigrants to North America.

Celtic music is characterized by narrative texts, which is ideally suited to both Dunn as The McDades. Maria Dunn is often described as' Storyteller in Song ". With her narrative songs she brings people from the past to life, you learn to know and to love them. The McDades form a family band for years. They are backed by a guitarist and a percussionist. In 'A Celtic Night' occurs the interaction between these two groups and create a magical atmosphere. When you close your eyes you will feel the rain, misty forests and the beautiful characters in the songs.
