Two of the finest musicians have joined forces to form the powerhouse duo of Terry Morrison and John Gorham. Distinct voices in their own right, both in timbre and songwriting, the blend of the two is its own unique sound. They are partners in life as well as in music and they each bring a wealth of musical experience to the combo.
Described as "...one of the most intellectually compelling songwriters in town..." by Edmonton music reviewer Roger Levesque, Terry Morrison?s performances are lauded for their ability to touch her audience. A strong acoustic guitar player, Morrison combines unique melodies, phrasing and rhythm to create her own inimitable brand of contemporary roots music. Spanning the range from jazzy folk to country her songs both sooth and cut to the quick , her rich sensual voice a vehicle for a compassionate and innate intelligence.
Terry has toured extensively throughout Canada and the USA and has performed at many Canadian folk fests including Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto's Mariposa Festival, Vancouver Island Music Fest, Frostbite in the Yukon and both the North and South Country Fairs of Alberta. Highly respected as a songwriter she has shared the stage with Janis Ian, Tom Russell, Greg Brown, Victoria Williams and Ian Tyson, to name a few, as well as opening for songwriting icons Louden Wainwright III and Richard Thompson .
Her music is played on public radio stations CBC, CKUA in Alberta, NPR in the US and numerous college and university stations across Canada and the US. Her songs have been used by independent film makers and by the Fox Network.
John Gorham has that kind of gravel in his voice that provides the perfect backdrop to the storytelling in his songs. He is best known for his work as the frontman for the band Twang! . An accomplished musician he has played for many years as a sideman in a number of working bands as well with songwriters Lindi Smith, Joanne Myrol, Lesley Schatz and Scott Wicken. John has opened for artists as diverse as Penny Lang, Chris Smither and Travis Tritt and toured Europe and parts of the former Soviet Union while playing with Lesley Schatz.
He currently fronts his own band "John Henry" ( 5 piece honky/swing ), accompanies Edmonton songwriter Terry Morrison, is a member of Edmontons alt-country band "The Swampflowers" as well as devoting time to his own solo projects.
John Henry Band has recently released their CD Charmin? Billy which features the original songs of John Gorham.
