Flutist Ron Korb has eight internationally released CDs. He has been traveling for years collecting and studying indigenous woodwinds from Japan, China, Indonesia, Cambodia and Ireland.
His music is steeped in the diverse cultural traditions and experiences of his travels. Ron has performed in major venues in Europe and across the USA, Canada and Asia.
After graduating from the University of Toronto with an honours degree in flute performance, he spent two years in Tokyo studying Japanese court music and the ryuteki and shinobue bamboo flutes. At the same time, Ron was writing songs for major artists in Asia. One of his songs reached double platinum status and another song won the award for Best Original Composition by Radio and Television Hong Kong. Ron has played on dozens of movie soundtracks such as Ang Lees The Ice Storm, John Woo's "Blackjack", Atom Egoyans Exotica and Sweet Hereafter, Mira Nairs Kama Sutra and, recently, Being Julia and IMAX Space Station, narrated by Tom Cruise.
Ron Korb's career is characterized by mesmerizing audiences with dynamic performances of beautiful original music and interesting arrangements that are accessible but also introduce new sounds and instruments to delighted crowds.
